Refreshing Citrus Infused Water

This is a nice drink to have on a hot summer day while relaxing in the shade. It’s also great in the winter when you’re looking foward to the lazy days of summer. It gives a boost of vitamin C and some decent electrolytes so you can go shovel some more snow and attempt to fight off that flu bug going around the neighborhood.  It is not a super sweet or sugary drink, but instead yields a mild sweetness.  You can adjust the flavor to be bolder or sweeter by simply adding in some lemon concentrate or some more honey to taste. My kids like this even though it’s not anywhere near as intense as the sugary and nutritionally dead juices you buy in the stores.

Prep time: 10 mins

1 gallon of cold water

Ice cubes if desired

2 Navel oranges

2 Lemons

1 Lime

4 tbl of Honey

1 large sprig of Basil or Mint

Slice all citrus into fine slices. Peel leaves off the basil or the mint and coarsely chop and bruise them to maximize flavor. Place all ingredients in a pitcher and add in the honey. You will have to stir up the honey until dissolved or it will settle to the bottom of the container. If you want something with a bolder flavor experiment with the ingredients or add a few of your own.
